Hi, my name’s Deborah Aubrey, or Debbie to my friends, or Debs if there’s alcohol involved, so take your pick, I’ll answer to pretty much anything that isn’t too derogatory.
I live in Birmingham, UK. I have three sons, and I’ve been writing since I was seven years old – like I knew anything about anything at seven, and still think the same now (as a woman of indeterminate age). I used to work in the city centre, enduring endless commutes and traffic jams, but then I threw a hissy fit one day and screamed at the sky (raining, of course), “I can’t do this any more!” and left. I now run my own transcription company and have done for the last 14 years, the commute entails walking up a few stairs to my study, much better – and the husband brings me cups of tea too, bonus.
MY MOM’S A WITCH, written under the name Debbie Aubrey, was created for my sons during a camping trip, and I read it to them every night. It’s a bit bonkers. My second, TIPPING POINT, is more grown up but still funny, because if you don’t keep your humour in hard times then all is doomed. My third, which is currently nameless until inspiration strikes, is due out next month, and is every bit as funny, if not more!
Three random facts about moi: I can’t smell (congenital anosmia), I can’t cook (to save my life), aaaand … I’m part Irish, so I go mad for a potato; baked, chipped, mashed or roasted, I’m not fussed.

This cute little “Get in Touch!” button will work eventually, just as soon as I’ve hooked it up to something – quite what, I’m not yet sure, but it may become apparent, probably at 3am when I sit bolt upright in bed and shout, “By jove, I think I’ve got it!” Meantime, you can just play with it, talk to it, tell it your problems, forge a strong bond.
And nothing down here has been plugged into the machine yet.
